Every Day is a New Year ! My Roadmap to a Better 2024

Roadmap to a better, smarter 2024 !

"Here I am, at the beginning/end of each year, I find myself stuck in this chain of 'Roadmap to a better year'… sometimes I surrender. I don’t want to write. But what started in 2019, will not stop now.

I want to continue this chain, my yearly rendezvous with this blog that is celebrating 16 years, a great chunk of my life is here. I find myself emotionally attracted to write.

I want to reflect this year on the idea of 'NEW YEAR'… what is a new year? It is all based on a calendar that keeps repeating, year after year. A year, in the math language, is equal to the following: 365 days, 52 weeks, 8760 hours, 525600 minutes, 3153600 seconds…. So, we celebrate time that is running out from our lives?"

We should be celebrating life events instead. That’s why, every time I make someone happy or smile, it is a new year to me. Every time I succeed in a mission / task , is a new year to me. Every time I am loyal to my circle of friends and family I am celebrating a new year.

Let every day be your new year. And take every day resolutions that can change your life for better.

"This year of 2023 was a good year to me personally. I call it the year of reconstruction. I have lost everything I have in the Lebanese banks, yet I did not surrender. I want to take a minute to reflect on the things I gained instead of the things that I lost.

Thank God for my small family, for my very close circle of real friends, for my bigger family, and for everyone who played a positive and negative role during this year."

Negative because they made me learn a lot. Positive because they are positive people and with them I shall continue the next year.

Every year, we lose people and we gain new ones. This year I was blessed with many new friends, and also I can say that I have lost a few. Why do we lose people? Because either they reveal their true faces and become different or they are there for a short ride. They are there when you are at the top. When you can provide their needs and satisfy their desires. And they disappear, or reveal their true faces when life and circumstances around us change. Those people you don’t need them at all.

I would rather stay alone than be with people who don’t know my value, does not appreciate my experience nor respect my word.

And to close the remarks with a positive note: I am happy that this year ended. The dates are set. The counter restarts. It’s 1-1-2024 we still have 365 days left to fix everything we don’t like and start again a new page. Every day is a new year. Let it be so.

Finally, I would like to give you a quick take-away for a positive new year, here’s my road map:

1- Sports

Discover your passion, be it a marathon or a leisurely stroll. Engaging in a sport is the antidote to stress. So lace up those shoes or tie that headband—your chosen game plan for conquering stress and embracing vitality.

2- Experience

Gather experience in your field to become an expert because this will give you status more than the salary. You might not be okay with your current salary, but be aware there are many factors more than money … experience with time is money.

3- Honesty

Be honest. No matter what, stay honest in what you do and what you say. Never hold a double discourse. Honesty in today’s world is becoming a rare asset. You need to build it and work on it to achieve what you want and create the image you want.

4- Trust

From honesty, comes trust. From trust comes love. From love comes many challenges, but you need to face them all. Trust in yourself first, then with the close people around you. but beware to who you give your secrets, they become knives thrown at you.

Build trust and be trustworthy but choose carefully who you trust.

5- Dignity

I always insist on dignity. When people around you, loved ones, close friends, colleagues, do not respect you or your word, don’t accept to stay where you are. Leave. Turn your back and quit the room. If your dignity is not respected, there is nothing else that can matter.

This is my advice: Dignity comes first. Even if you skipped your supper. (Quote me on that).

I leave you here with this and finally I would like to mention the importance of prayers. Don’t ever pray when you are in need. Pray when you don’t need anything so that you can thank the Lord for the grace of not asking for anything.

Happy New Year 2024 and see you next year.
